Abstract: |
The assessment and walkover survey was undertaken of the area to be affected by the proposed dredging of the lake. The park was registered as a Grade 2 Historic Landscape and was Grade 2* Listed on the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. There were considered to be three points of archaeological sensitivity, which may have been affected by the proposed dredging. Environmental data which may have related to the last 1000 years within the organic lake sediments; artefacts of archaeological interest that may have become incorporated within the lake sediments; post-medieval islands and causeways.
