Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation by Warwickshire Museum for Warwickshire County Council on a landfill site near Bubbenhall was carried out in August 1992. The site, on which it was intended to construct a car park and visitor centre for a country park, lay in an area of dense archaeological remains, notably a Bronze Age cremation cemetery and overlying Iron Age settlement. Trial-trenching revealed no evidence of significant archaeological activity. A single feature was identified: a small gully aligned north-west - south-east in Trench 1. No finds were recovered from the fill of the gully, so it could not be dated; it is likely to have been a field boundary, although too short a length was exposed for this to be certain. No flints, sherds of pottery, or other significant archaeological finds were recovered from the topsoil. {italon}Au(adp){italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} WA5742 |
