Abstract: |
A single evaluation trench was excavated at Little Heath Cottage, Astley. The topsoil produced a fragment of 18th century brick, a sherd of black ware and a sherd of willow pattern pottery. An interface of ironpanning between the natural and the topsoil, suggestive of seasonal waterlogging, was concentrated towards the northern half of the trench where the natural subsoil shelved down slightly.
