Abstract:
Earlier excavations on the site had revealed evidence of medieval and post-medieval waterfront activity. The first two phases of this excavation investigated an extensive area south of the Hogsmill river, revealing a remarkably well-preserved and coherent medieval and post-medieval occupation sequence dating from the late 12th century through to the 17th century, interspersed with episode of flooding and land reclamation.
