Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out on topsoil stripping at the site. Three pits containing Saxon tap slag were identified, suggesting that they were used as tapping pits during iron smelting. Four other pits were identified containing evidence of in situ burning, which may have been used as the base of furnaces. Post-medieval pits and a post hole were also identified. [Au(abr)] |
