Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out in advance of redevelopment. A small amount of prehistoric material had been found in the surrounding area. Roman Watling Street ran past the site, and Roman tile kilns had been excavated 700m to the west. Three trenches were excavated, but no deposits of archaeological interest were revealed. Some 17th-19th century artefacts were found, including pottery and clay pipe. It was concluded that no further work would be necessary.[AIP] |
