Abstract: |
No direct evidence was found for occupation or land use within the study site from before the end of the 16th century. However, it was noted that the site lay within a landscape occupied since at least the Iron Age and extensive concentrations of Romano-British pottery and other artefacts had been noted c. 1000 metres to the south of the site. The study site also lay within two medieval settlements, Grovesend and Sibland, of which it may have been a part. The land was utilised for agricultural purposes in the early 17th century, this continued until the present day. Further archaeological investigation was deemed necessary should development be undertaken. [AIP] |
