Abstract: |
A 12m x 12m trial trench was excavated across the proposed development site. It identified the presence of an alluvial clay at the base of the trench. Cut into this alluvium were two pre-cast concrete stanchion bases, interpreted as being late 19th century in date, the northern-most of the two being within a timber frame. These stanchion bases were sealed by 2.7m of redeposited alluvium. Sealing this alluvium was 1.6m of modern demolition material. [Au(abr)] |
