Abstract: |
A desk-based study to assess the archaeological implications of a possible site for the proposed new Visitor Centre, between the A344 and the A303 on Stonehenge Down to the south-east of Fargo Plantation, was undertaken. The study lay within the World Heritage Site, but did not contain any Scheduled Ancient Monuments. Ten archaeological sites were identified, and five archaeological monuments could be recognized: two linear boundaries, an extensive fieldsystem, and a dense flint scatter. [AIP] |
