Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out at a development site. Archaeological remains recorded in the surrounding area had included a late Saxon ditch, two phases of Saxon building, a medieval yard and an 11th-12th century roadside ditch. During the watching brief, it was quickly established that the bulk of the area had been destroyed by one or more brick cellars or basements, up to 1.8m deep. No archaeological features or artefacts were observed. [AIP] |
