Abstract: |
A second phase of magnetometer survey was carried out at three locations within the grounds of Stainborough Park as part of an ongoing scheme of investigation. The survey of South Avenue confirmed the location of a curvilinear cropmark, although it was not clear whether this anomaly was caused by a former garden feature such as a ha-ha or has an earlier origin. Several potentially archaeological anomalies had also been identified along the proposed route of the Coronation Wood access road. Several other discrete anomalies were also identified at the proposed site of a new car park but it was considered most likely that these were due to modern or geological causes. [Au(adp)] |
