Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was carried out on a redevelopment site. The factory was situated on the line of the medieval castle defences, which potentially replaced the Saxon and Roman defences. Roman burials were identified as being present on the site and may have formed part of a cemetery. St. Peter the Great church was present on the site during the early medieval and medieval periods and has potential for an associated cemetery. Buildings and structures associated with the 19th century factory were also identified as being affected by the proposed development. [Au(abr)] |
