Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during the principal groundworks associated with the construction of eight pile-founded dwellings, at a site which lay adjacent to the site of the 'Westlands Roman Settlement'. Early prehistoric material had been found in the vicinity of Yeovil, and archaeological evidence of occupation and burial in the Bronze Age and Iron Age had been recorded. During the watching brief it was observed that, despite its previous use as a fuel depot, ground levels at the site appeared to have remained relatively undisturbed. Nonetheless, no archaeological deposits were revealed, and no artefacts were recovered. [Au(adp)] |
