Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the site of Sadlers Wells Theatre was undertaken. Palaeolithic flints had previously been recorded at the site and in the vicinity. A neolithic axe, a bronze age spearhead and Roman artefacts had also been found in the area. The site lay at the edge of the medieval parish of Clerkenwell, and may have been crossed by the line of a medieval conduit. Specific areas of the site were suggested for evaluation and excavation.
