Abstract: |
Salvage recording was undertaken close to the supposed site of the de Beauchamps' adulterine castle at Bengeworth 'at the head of the bridge', which was razed by the Abbot of Evesham's men before 1160. This has provided evidence of medieval activity on the site\nin the form of a large dump or fill deposit that included substantial blocks of medieval masonry of 12th century date which may derive from a nearby building. Further, more detailed work needs to be carried out in this area if the identification of the castle is to be confirmed.[AIP] |
