Abstract: |
Monitoring of the site strip and excavation of the foundation/service trench systems revealed several archaeological features including two wells, a plot boundary ditch and a pit. Pottery recovered from one of the wells dated from the late 12 century through to the late 14th or 15th century putting it securely within the medieval period. The boundary ditch was sealed below a layer containing a jug handle dating from the 13th to 14th century and contained the bones of an eel, stickleback and vole. The pit contained pottery dating mainly from the 19th century and butchered animal bone. [Au(abr0] |
