Abstract: |
A watching brief on the construction of a new bypass to the west of Awsworth recorded a number of nineteenth century industrial features. These included a previously unknown inlet from the Nottingham Canal, from whence coal was transported prior to the arrival of the railways; the remains of an eighteenth century colliery and a canal bridge dated to 1796.
