Abstract: |
An appraisal was undertaken of the Great Western Dock and adjoining harbour wall to examine the archaeological potential of the site and to indicate the current condition of the quay walls. The condition of the quay wall was considered to be generally very good, but one section was in need of some attention. A detailed survey was recommended, and an archaeological presence should any works be carried out on the site or in the nearby vicinity was also suggested. The appraisal also confirmed the need to consider the ship and its dry dock as an integrated site spanning land and sea. [Au(adp)] |
