Abstract: |
An evaluation was conducted following proposals to develop land behind the properties fronting Southgate Street within the medieval core of the town. Three trenches were excavated revealing evidence of domestic structures, features and finds possibly associated with medieval backyards. The most important discovery was of Ipswich ware Saxon pottery, although no attributable Saxon features were revealed. [Au(abr)] |
