Abstract: |
It was proposed to redevelop the site with commercial and residential buildings. The site was currently vacant, although the demolition of the standing buildings on the site had recently occurred. Previously, the site was occupied by a number of terraced houses and the Swan Public House, which was subject to a building recording exercise prior to demolition. There was considered to be a low potential for archaeological remains from the prehistoric to Saxon period, a low-moderate potential for those of the medieval period, and a high potential for in situ archaeological deposits of the post-medieval period. Prior development along London Road included basemented buildings, which were likely to have had a negative impact on buried archaeological deposits in the eastern area of the site. [Au(abr)] |
