Abstract: |
The earliest activity on the site related to two ditches dating to the 13th and 14th centuries which may have formed part of the original castle defences. One of them was also identified during documentary research, undertaken prior to fieldwork. The majority of the archaeology was, however, of post-medieval date. This consisted mainly of structural evidence in the form of 18th-19th century stone and brick buildings, an associated well, and flagstone surface.[AIP] |
