Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during groundworks associated with the extension of a clay quarry. An undated tree-throw pit containing a layer of charcoal and ash, presumed to have been from stump-burning was recorded. Earthwork features associated with post-medieval marl extraction including a quarry pit, two drainage channels and two depressions which may have represented the locations of infilled mine pits beneath. Finds included post-medieval pottery and possible 'tap slag'. [Au(adp)] |
