Abstract: |
The assessment identified that only one archaeological site, a group of bell-pits, had previously been recorded within the study area. The study identified an additional 22 sites within the proposal area, including cropmarks, an infilled quarry, lynchets, shafts, a disused colliery, and earthworks which may have been created by industrial spoil. In the surrounding area, further evidence of mining activity had been recorded. Other sites included cropmarks representing potential Iron Age/Romano-British enclosures, historic buildings, the findspot of a prehistoric flint, and a moated site. [AIP] |
