Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundworks associated with the construction of retail and office facilities. In the main the results of the watching brief were negative. With the exception of four sherds of post-medieval pottery derived from a soakaway drain, no compelling evidence of human activity of any antiquity was observed. On the basis of these observation it could be remarked that the areas exposed for construction perhaps represented cultivated land or pasture prior to its incorporation into the garden centre.
