Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during construction works associated with a flood alleviation scheme. The dearth of archaeological material encountered during the works was due to the presence of a substantial spread of sterile mine waste along the route. This waste had been used as levelling material in advance of the development of the town in the late 19th century after the decline of the mining industry. [Au(adp)] |
