Abstract: |
A fieldwalking survey in advance of proposed tree planting on land adjacent to the former Royal Ordnance site identified an above average amount of burnt/fire cracked flint for the county, which was concentrated in the north-western corner of the survey area. This suggestion of prehistoric activity in the area was supported by the recovery of two sherds of prehistoric pottery. A large amount of post-medieval pottery and tile was also recovered. It was thought that this material originated from a demolished building located in the south-eastern corner of the field. [Au(adp)] |
