Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out along part of the proposed route of a cable trench within a World Heritage Site. Archaeological remains dating from the Mesolithic to the post-medieval period had been recorded along the route corridor, including two Romano-British pits or wells near the evaluation site. During the evaluation, the probable northern flanking ditch of the Roman road from Mildenhall to Bath was recorded, along with a post hole. The latter may have represented a fence or the site of a roadside structure. A layer containing 3rd or 4th century artefacts was also observed. [Au(abr)] |
