Abstract: |
The industrial archaeology of the study area was clearly a contributing factor to its status as a potential World Heritage Site. Of particular importance in this respect were the 1830 and mid-1860s bridges, viaducts and other associated features, which were integral to the operation of the Manchester terminus of the Liverpool to Manchester railway.
