Abstract: |
Three small exploratory contractors' holes within a cellar were briefly investigated, under poor lighting conditions. One hole showed that the cellar had removed the main levels of archaeological stratigraphy, and that its lowest construction levels rested on natural sand. However, an earlier tile floor of the cellar was revealed, together with a pit and a possible robber trench or pit. Neither feature could be directly dated, although the pit stratigraphically pre-dated the installation of the tile floor. [Au] |
