Abstract: |
A re-assessment of a desk-based study carried out in 1993 was carried out due to changes being made in the proposed route of the Long Sea Outfall (wastewater) at Dover. A survey of underwater obstructions on the route was also attempted by divers, but was unuccessful. The original conclusion of the first assessment, that the maritime archaeological potential of the area was high, remained true. A large number of recorded wrecks and the number of apparent seabed features suggested that some material of archaeological interest would lie on the proposed outfall route. Further archaeological investigation was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
