Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken on the two areas covered by a proposed quarry extension. The assessment identified that area A contained the potential for the occupation of the site from at least the Bronze Age. At least two Roman settlement sites were identified and an Iron date settlement. The potential for the presence of unknown archaeology in area A was identified as being high. Area B was identified as containing Car Dyke/Cranbrook Drain, a possible Roman canal. The area was also identified as containing marine alluvial deposits from Neolithic/Bronze Age inundations. The potential palaeoenvironmental evidence was considered high. [Au(abr)] |
