Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that the proximity of the site to the probable boundary of the Saxon town meant that early deposits or features may have been encountered, however, there was no firm evidence to suggest that the site area was developed during the medieval period. The 19th century 'capital basement cellars' relating to the former buildings in the northern part of the site would have destroyed any earlier archaeological deposits in that part of the site. The geotechnical report indicated that the infilled cellars had survived, but did not extend to the full extent of both houses. [Au(adp) |
