Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of a pipe trench along the east side of a road. A number of linear cropmarks had been recorded in fields to the west of the road, and it was hoped that evidence of these features would be revealed by the pipe trench. However, nothing of archaeological interest was noted during the watching brief. It was concluded that the shallowness of the pipe trench and the raising of the modern road surface had prevented the question of the presence or absence of the linear cropmarks as surviving archaeological features from being resolved.
