Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was conducted in advance of a proposed development. The excavation provided evidence of non-intensive activity on the site within the medieval period. There was no significant evidence of structures or of major field or plot divisions, although a sunken cobbled surface could have been associated with an early structure. A metalled surface suggested a yard area, possibly associated with buildings which may have existed further back from the road. There was evidence of frequent changes in routes across the open ground. This may have represented periodic or repeated changes and episodes of repair to traverse wet ground. [Au(adp)] |
