A historic settlement assessment was carried out at Thorner, as part of an MA work placement. There were several historic buildings in Thorner which were of archaeological interest, such as a watermill, Hall Garth, a lime kiln, a pottery kiln, a bake house, the Church Farm, Crook House, Manor Farm Barn and several other sites.
