Abstract:
A desk-top assessment of the proposed site of a residential development was undertaken. Peat deposits had been observed in a borehole at the site. Excavations at an adjacent site had revealed evidence of 17th century revetments, and dumps containing 17th century industrial residues. The site itself was occupied by a dry dock and other buildings by the mid-18th century. It was concluded that an archaeological evaluation would probably be necessary. [AIP]
