Abstract:
<summary>South West Water had proposed the building of a new reservoir to replace the one built in 1852/3. When the original reservoir was built it destroyed much of Danes Castle, an earthwork about which very little is known. A rapid site assessment and a search of all available records was undertaken. It was concluded that a watching brief should be undertaken during the early stages of construction, and that hand-excavation should be carried out where applicable. {italon}AIP{italoff}
