Abstract: |
Archaeological fieldwalking was conducted across three suitable fields along the 20.1km length of the pipeline. Two areas of archaeological significance were identified by the distribution of the artefacts recovered from the survey. An area of possible prehistoric activity was identified by the distribution of worked flint flakes and Iron Age pottery in the south-east of the field. An area of possible Roman activity was identified by the distribution of Roman pottery in the northern central part of the field. A scatter of heavily fragmented brick was also noted. A small amount of ceramic building material, probably indicative of manuring was recovered whilst no artefactual material was recovered from field 55. [Au(abr)] |
