Abstract: |
Topographic, geological, sea-level and archaeological data were combined to assess the archaeological potential in three broad temporal zones, Lower-Early Upper Palaeolithic, in situ Late Upper Palaeolithic/Early Mesolithic and wrecks and related material to the modern period. Mineral extraction in this area had the potential to impact upon significant Palaeolithic deposits, although the quantity was not known. Significant damage would occur to any in situ Mesolithic features, whose potential for discovery was thought to be fairly high. Dredging would also affect known and unknown wrecks in the area.
