Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation and watching brief was undertaken in advance of and during the construction of the remaining section of the A350 bypass. A previous evaluation on the site produced evidence that suggested the presence of significanct archaeological remains which possibly included a ditched enclosure. Although no evidence was recorded to identify the putative enclosure, a small number of other archaeological features were recorded. Primarily, a single small pit containing Late Bronze Age pottery and associated undiagnostic finds was recorded which suggested that some sort of domestic settlement lay in the vicinity. In addition, post-medieval boundary ditches and possible ridge and furrow remains were also recorded. [AIP] |
