Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of two test pits was undertaken as part of a pre-application exercise in advance of potential redevelopment. Evidence for extensive early 18th century basementing was identified which had truncated any archaeology to a depth of c.3m. The above ground structures represented by these basements were demolished, and the basements backfilled, in the mid 19th century. The possibility of archaeological survival elsewhere on the site was discussed. [Au(abr)] |
