Abstract: |
A small evaluation trench was excavated immediately to the north of The Mill, Weybourne, in order to investigate the nature and extent of a scatter of Roman, Anglo-Saxon and medieval artefacts recovered from fields to the east. The excavation produced pottery sherds of Roman date dispersed within a layer of windblown sand. No archaeological features were observed and no artefacts were recovered by metal detector. Following the excavation of the evaluation trench a watching brief monitored the removal of deposits from the footings of the building. Sherds of Roman pottery were found during this process, but no archaeological features were observed. [Au] |
