Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the proposed site of office buildings and a car park was undertaken. Mesolithic flints had been found nearby, and later prehistoric features and artefacts had been recorded throughout the surrounding area. Roman enclosures and field systems had been excavated, and early medieval settlement had been recorded at several sites. Scattered medieval villages had existed in the area. An archaeological evaluation was recommended. [AIP] |
