Abstract: |
(Following a desktop assessment and initial field survey on behalf ì\nof the Department of Transport on the route of the proposed new ì\nroad between Evesham and Alcester, seven [...next line...]ì\npossible sites (A - G) were identified that would be affected by ì\nthe road construction and where evaluation work was necessary ì\n[AIP record: B.80.0001]. The evaluations, which were carried out ì\nbetween December 1992 and August 1993, involved a programme of\ngeophysical survey carried out by Geophysical Surveys of Bradford\n(Report No 92/105), intensive fieldwalking and trial trenchingì\n[AIP records: C.80.0001 - 0007].)\n\nAt Twyford Farm, Norton and Lenchwick (Site A), limited trial ì\ntrenching on a possible Roman settlement produced no evidence of ì\nRoman activity, suggesting that the known settlement (HWCM 2759) ì\ndid not extend this far north and that 'Stoney' field names (HWCM ì\n15444) in the area related to shattered bedrock rather than ì\nbuilding rubble. |
