Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during mineral extraction and the construction of a lake at a site which had potential for Palaeolithic artefacts, due to the presence of river gravels and glacial lake deposits. The environmental potential of the site was assessed, and was found to be low. No Palaeolithic artefacts or faunal remains were observed during the watching brief, although it was noted that only the upper levels of the glacial deposits had been examined, due to limitations imposed by the scope of the extraction work.
