Abstract: |
A study area of 1km in diameter was examined for a desk-based assessment of the former London Rubber Company factory site at Chingford. A total of 68 archaeological sites and find-spots were recorded, spanning from the Palaeolithic to the present day. The archaeological potential of the site was highlighted; it stood within an area of known human activity since prehistory, on the junction between a gravel island and the alluvium of the Lea and Ching Valleys.
