Abstract: |
The site lay within the former boundary of the 12th century St Lawrences Church, the site of a probable Saxon minster church. It was thought that the graveyard may have exended as far as the road running north of the school, but the investigation revealed no evidence of this. All features recorded dated to the construction of the school about 1840, with the exception of a small section of wall foundation, thought to be part of the earlier farm buildings that occupied the site from the 17th century. A small soakaway of large flints from the original school building was also recorded. [Au(abr)] |
