Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief of the core sampling and and minipile drilling by engineers was undertaken at Watling House in response to a condition on the planning consent for redevelopment of the site. The watching brief revealed evidence of a Roman ragstone walls, possible quarry pit fills, destruction debris, floor surfaces and ceramic building material and revealed that in some areas all archaeological deposits had been removed by the construction of modern building foundations.
