Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken of the historical and archaeological background of Brougham Hall in advance of proposed restoration works. The results suggested that this complex of standing buildings, comprising a hall of largely 19th century build and outbuildings of 17th century date (but with earlier architectural fragments), may have occupied the site of an earlier manor house dating to the late medieval period if not earlier.
