Abstract: |
A review of documentary, geological, archival and cartographic sources has indicated that the site is in an area known to have archaeological potential. Prehistoric flints and handaxes have been found around the site. Roman and Saxon evidence is sparse, but the area blossomed from the medieval period onwards. A number of different schemes are currently being considered, all of which will have varying impacts on potential archaeological remains. A single recommendation cannot be provided until a final decision is made. [Au(abr)] |
